Catalysing Financing for the Hong Kong Built Environment – From Physical Risk Assessments to Building Decarbonisation
15:00 - 18:00
Hong Kong Monetary Authority

2025 was notable for the frequency of extreme weather events which struck Hong Kong during the year. With each typhoon and severe rainstorm presenting increased threats to business, operations and assets, the need to properly assess such risks, and to focus efforts on our response whilst simultaneously reducing emissions, grows. Join us for an essential dialogue which explores the importance of physical risk assessments, management and adaptation as well as scalable financing strategies for building decarbonisation in Hong Kong to meet our net zero goals.

The event will feature two panel discussions, the first of which brings together cross-disciplinary practitioners from the banking, insurance, and property sectors, as well as regulatory bodies, to discuss practical approaches for assessing, managing, and adapting to physical risks. The second draws on insights from across the stakeholder value chain, and will explore scalable financing approaches, with a focus on Performance-Based Contracting (PBC) as a mechanism to drive verified energy savings and operational carbon reductions to help meet the Chief Executive's 2025 Policy Address direction to "driving the market to accelerate carbon reduction in existing buildings".
