Global Conversation: Can Big Data Save Lives Protecting Hong Kong Against Air Pollution and Extreme Weather
6:00pm - 8:00pm
Hong Kong Observatory (Conference Hall), 134A Nathan Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon

Exeter's Professor Gavin Shaddick, Chair of Data Science and Statistics, demonstrated how research in environmental intelligence was being used to empower individuals and businesses with the information they need to reduce environmental and climatic risks, including air pollution in cities such as Hong Kong. Professor Gabriel Lau (Chinese University of Hong Kong) discussed the use of data and high-performance computing in research and weather operations that was enabling more accurate assessments of climate change and predictions of extreme weather events.

The forum was one of the events under the “Global Conversation” series initiated by University of Exeter.
